A Short Survey on P2P Data Indexing

چکیده

P2P data indexing has recently attracted a great many research efforts. For various proposed schemes, there are generally two taxonomies: 1) From a systematic point of view, existing schemes fall into two categories: the over-DHT indexing paradigm, which as a layered manner, indexes data in DHT key space (i.e., over DHT), and the overlay-dependent indexing paradigm, which indexes data directly on a specific overlay. 2) From a viewpoint of indexing purpose, different schemes aim at supporting different query operators, like range queries, similarity queries, etc. Each query operator defines distinct semantic context and demands specific indexing scheme to fit it. At this point, we survey three subjects most relevant to P2P indexing: over-DHT indexing for various query types; several overlay-dependent indexing schemes (mainly for range queries); and finally a classic topic, DHT overlay. Here, only structured P2P is considered.

P2P Network Trust Management Survey

Peer-to-peer applications (P2P) are no longer limited to home users, and start being accepted in academic and corporate environments. While file sharing and instant messaging applications are the most traditional examples, they are no longer the only ones benefiting from the potential advantages of P2P networks. For example, network file storage, data transmission, distributed computing, and co...

SIGMOD Record

Peer-to-peer (p2p) systems are attracting increasing attention as an efficient means of sharing data among large, diverse and dynamic sets of users. The widespread use of XML as a standard for representing and exchanging data in the Internet suggests using XML for describing data shared in a p2p system. However, sharing XML data imposes new challenges in p2p systems related to supporting advanc...

On Indexing Multidimensional Data In A P2P Context

Based on their remarkable properties (fault tolerance, scalability, decentralization), P2P systems tend to be largely accepted as a common support for deploying massively distributed data management applications. Some of the existing P2P systems are built over hybrid networks where certain peers are specialized in indexing. Others make use of DHTs as common support for data indexing. However, o...

RDF Data Indexing and Retrieval: A survey of Peer-to-Peer based solutions

The Semantic Web enables the possibility to model, create and query resources found on the Web. Enabling the full potential of its technologies at the Internet level requires infrastructures that can cope with scalability challenges and support various types of queries. The attractive features of the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) communication model such as decentralization, scalability, fault-tolerance s...

Utilizing XML Clustering for Efficient XML Data Management on P2P Networks

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) data integration combines the P2P infrastructure with traditional scheme-based data integration techniques. Some of the primary problems in this research area are the techniques to be used for querying, indexing and distributing documents among peers in a network especially when document files are in XML format. In order to handle this problem we describe an XML P2P system th...
